The article highlights that whilst general practice requires greater support in order to continuing providing this level of high quality care to the community, it remains an efficient and cost effective sector of the health system in Australia.
AMA President A/Prof Brian Owler, armed with a report from the National Health Performance Authority (NHPA) provides some interesting insight as to “who is consuming significant health resources” and the need to target these patients with extra support and resources.
